Good quality tall boots for thinner calves?

I just got the Mountain Horse Venice's, and they're absolutely lovely. They come in a tall/slim, too! The tredstep donatello's look amazing too - those were going to be my choice, but one reviewer said 'the leather is so soft, they may not hold up to heavy use', and I unfortunately put my boots through hell. Haha.
